About 1,600 megawatts (mw) of electricity was stranded in October due to poor transmission  and distribution capacities.

Statistics obtained from the Presidential Task force on Power (PTFP) indicates that the national grid rose to 4,511megawatts (mw) last Friday, November 6, with total generation capacity at 6,084mw but only 3,996mw was sent out across the 11 Distribution companies (Discos) last Wednesday.

While the grid is rising, the key power generation and distribution constraints of gas supply and transmission imbalance among others are yet to be eliminated. The reports indicate that over an average of 1,590mw of energy was constrained between the first week of October and that of November, 2015.
