NAEC summit unveils strategies for Nigeria’s energy sector

The dye is cast as national and international stakeholders in the oil and gas industry of Nigeria gather to brainstorm on the way out of the numerous challenges confronting the nation’s energy sector at the moment.

A conference organized by and under the auspices of the National Association of Energy Correspondents of Nigeria with the theme “Low Oil Price: Impacts And The Way Forward’’ holds on August 18, 2016, at the banquet hall of Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, from 9am prompt.

“Attracting Investment in Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Sector’’ with particular attention to  the challenges and opportunities in gas to power will serve as the conference sub-title.

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, who will deliver the goodwill message, and Babatunde Raji Fashola, Minister, Power, Works and Housing, welcomed as the guest speaker, will both make policy statements on government’s plans for the sectors.
Nigeria’s Law makers and stakeholders which will not exclude the IOCs, downstream oil and gas operators, independent producers, owners of power stations and assets and operators in the power sector would be in attendance.

The Keynote address and the Lead paper will be delivered by the Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru.

Speakers include Head, Energy Research, ECOBANK PLC Mr Dolapo Oni, Clay Neff, (Managing Director, Chevron Nigeria Limited), Akin Akinfemiwa, (Chairman, Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, MOMAN), Bismarck Rewane, (CEO Financial Derivatives Company Limited). Others include Professor Akpan H. Ekpo, Director-General, West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management, WAIFEM, Mrs Sotonye Iyoyo, (Executive Secretary, Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA) Muda Yusuf, Director-General, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, LCCI, and  D.V.G Edwin, Group Executive Director, Dangote Refinery.

The roll further includes Engr, Saidu Mohammed, Group Executive Director, Power and Gas, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Professor Barth Nnaji, Chairman, Geometric Power Ltd, Dada Thomas, Managing Director, Frontier Oil Limited, Bolaji Osusanya, Managing Director, Oando Gas to Power, Dr Oladele Amoda, Chief Executive Officer, Eko Electricity Distribution Company, Sunday Olurotimi Oduntan, Executive Director, Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors, ANED, and Chiedu Ugbo, Ag.
