
Statoil as well as other major oil companies have made a commitment to end the practice of routine gas flaring by 2030.
Eldar Sætre, Statoil’s CEO and representative at the signing at the World Bank in Washington said meeting the target of zero routine flaring by 2030 was a highly important contribution they would make towards mitigating climate change.
“In our operations in Norway” Sætre said, “we do not carry out any routine flaring. This leading performance was made possible by a government who was determined to avoid waste and maximize value from its natural resources,” he said.
