The Management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) on Tuesday commissioned two centres for electricity consumers to access payment of their bills and lodge complaints.
Managing Director of AEDC, Mr Neil Croucher, while commissioning the centres in Abuja, said that the company inherited poor service, customer-care and vending centres from the old PHCN.
According to him, the new centres were linked to IT systems where AEDC deployed many of its staff to ensure that customers’ queries or complaints were attended to quickly and efficiently. Croucher said AEDC was also commissioning a super vending centre in Abuja, to ensure that FCT consumers had easy access to make their electricity payments.
In related news, it was reported that AEDC, has also been fined N18 million over the electrocution of an eight-year-old girl, Faith Yakubu, at Anguwan Dodo, Gwagwalada, FCT, which is within the company’s distribution franchise.
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) in a resolution, upheld recommendations of its Panel Report of Accident Investigation which found the distribution company liable of negligence.
