Shell Advance introduces new powerbike lubricants

Shell Lubricants said they have launched their newly upgraded full-synthetic lubricant called “Shell Advance Ultra with API SP,” also described as the “premium motorcycle and scooter oil trusted by riders worldwide,” at the 2025 MotoGP in Thailand, the Dutch company has disclosed through an email to Energy Window International.

As the only premium motorcycle engine oil used and recommended by Ducati Corse, Shell said its Advance Ultra still retains its horsepower at different speeds up to 20,000km, enabling riders to get 11.5 metres ahead when accelerating from 0-100km/hr. It offers, Shell says, longer engine life with up to 79% less evaporation, and improved fuel economy of 5km further per litre of fuel.

The company also announced that beyond “Shell Advance Ultra,” the API SP, being the latest specification, is also available on the benefit-led range of products that include Shell Advance Power, FuelSave, Long Ride, City, City Scooter and FuelSave Scooter. Shell Advance full-synthetic products the company says, are the first and only motorcycle and scooter oil made with Shell’s PurePlus Technology, and described as a revolution in motor oil that delivers a 99.5% pure4 base oil from natural gas, with virtually none of the impurities found in crude oil. Shell further said that its Advance’s premium range of lubricants is designed to deliver improved power and performance, allowing bikers and scooters around the world to Ride On with confidence.

Adding that it’s proud to celebrate the milestone alongside the unveiling of its Advance’s new brand campaign – “It’s not just oil, it’s crazy good oil where Shell Advance inspires riders to pursue one’s own path with inner strength and passion to embrace the open road and boldly be themselves,” the company said. Announcing that even its Advance’s latest campaign will feature Ducati Corse riders to celebrate over 25 years of technical partnership.

Shell said that in bringing the partnership to life, it hosted various Industry Opinion Leaders to offer a firsthand experience of the new Advance premium lubricants, expressing its commitment to riding-innovation in motorcycle oil at the first MotoGP race of the 2025 season. MotoGP is the ultimate testbed for Shell Advance technology, providing Shell and Ducati valuable insights into product performance. Ducati not only uses Shell products on the track, but also choose Shell Advance Ultra as the first fill for every Ducati road bike that leaves its factory in Bologna, Italy, Shell said.

Jason Wong, Global Executive Vice President of Shell Lubricants said: “The two-wheeler population continues to grow, and we see a trend of accelerated demand for premium lubricants. As the number 1 lubricants supplier for the past 18 years, Shell continues to push the boundaries to excel and deliver quality solutions to customers. Now with our strongest-ever claims on the Shell Advance API SP-ready formulations, we want to demonstrate our commitment to innovation and give our customers the inner strength and passion to ride on with confidence.”

Mauro Grassilli, Ducati Corse Sporting Director of Ducati Corse also said: “The Ducati Lenovo team, powered by Shell Advance, had an amazing MotoGP season in 2024 winning 13 MotoGP races, a record number of 24 podium finishes and five consecutive Constructor Championship titles for the first time in history. As we celebrate over 25 years of technical partnership with Shell Advance, we are pleased to be working alongside Shell Advance to push technological innovation, and to feature our Ducati Corse riders in the new Shell Advance Ride On campaign. We are looking forward to leveraging our strong collaboration to make the 2025 season an even more successful one”, Mauro said.

Shell Advance Ultra with API SP also meets the latest JASO MA2 and MB specifications for motorcycles and scooters respectively. The products were first introduced in China in December 2023 making Shell Advance one of the first MCO brands to launch API SP, and will be rolled out in the coming months in the full range of Shell Advance full-synthetic lubricants across markets around the globe, to give customers the opportunity to experience the superior quality and performance of Shell Advance premium products. The new Shell Advance Ride On campaign will be launched in markets from April 2025.
