- Shell celebrates the 75th anniversary of the first race together with Scuderia Ferrari in the Formula 1 World Championship at the Monaco GP in 1950
- The SF-25 race car will carry a 75-year partnership graphic at this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix to mark the occasion.
The long-standing partnership recently received Shell said, a multi-year extension, with Shell continuing to contribute its expertise across Shell V-Power race fuels and Shell Helix performance lubricants, “and extends to exploring new products and services that can help accelerate decarbonisation on and off the track, including EV charging, EV fluids and renewable power.”
Lorenzo Giorgetti, Chief Racing Revenues Officer, Ferrari was quoted to have said: “We are incredibly proud to celebrate 75 years of partnership with Shell, a collaboration that has been an integral part of our story since the very first race of Scuderia Ferrari. This milestone is a testament to the enduring strength and mutual commitment of our relationship, and to Shell’s unwavering dedication to innovation in fuel and lubricants. Together, we have shared victories, challenges, and a relentless pursuit of performance and excellence. As we look ahead to a new era of sustainable motorsport, we are excited to continue building the future of racing side by side — both on the track and beyond.”
For the 2026 racing season, when Formula 1’s new engine regulations take effect, Shell is focused on the delivery of an advanced sustainable Shell V-Power race fuel* for Scuderia Ferrari HP and its customer teams, Shell has said in a statement posted to Energy Window International (Media) by email.
David Bunch, Group Executive Vice President, Shell Mobility & Convenience also said: “For more than three-quarters of a century, Shell has shared with Ferrari a common commitment to innovation, performance and success. We are pleased to continue this partnership into the next chapter of Formula 1 with the development and supply of an advanced sustainable race fuel from the 2026 season. Our involvement in Formula 1 is driven by the desire to create better products and services for our customers, and we will continue to do so in this new era.”
Shell V-Power Advanced Sustainable Race Fuel is a bespoke formulation containing sustainable components as defined by FIA regulations as components certified to have derived from renewable feedstock of non-biological origin e.g. municipal waste or non-food biomass. While the race fuel will achieve an emissions reduction relative to fossil-derived gasoline, these emissions will be achieved over the lifecycle of the components and released when they are combusted. The Shell V-Power Race fuel which will be supplied to Scuderia Ferrari HP from the 2026 season is not a product which will be available for purchase at Shell stations.
According to Shell, its race fuels and lubricants have powered Scuderia Ferrari HP to 10 FIA Formula 1 Constructors’ titles and 12 Drivers’ Championship wins.
Adding that whether it is trackside or at Shell’s Technology Centre in Hamburg, Germany, Shell invests more than 21,000-man hours a year from over 50 technical staff in its Formula 1 program to blend, produce, and test Shell V-Power race fuel and Shell Helix Ultra race lubricant formulations.
Adding further Shell said that a minimum of two of its scientists have always been on hand to support Scuderia Ferrari HP at every Grand Prix from the Shell Trackside Laboratory, located in the team’s garage. The team provides analytical support by testing the race fuel and lubricant used by Scuderia Ferrari HP and all Ferrari customer teams throughout a race weekend.
In addition to Formula 1, the innovation partnership between Scuderia Ferrari HP and Shell also includes collaboration on the FIA World Endurance Championship and the Ferrari Challenge Series as well as activities at Ferrari’s factory in Maranello.
