Die is Cast as NAEC Gears-up for its 2025 Global Energy Industry Feast

By Stephanie Daniels

“Nigeria’s energy industry operators view the NAEC Annual Conference as a crucial platform for dialogue, investment driving, industry and socioeconomic development conversations, government and industry policy reassessment, driving collaboration among policymakers, regulators and private sector players, for a deeper dive into the country’s industry reforms like the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA). The forum has always provided the needed tools for further exploration opportunities in certain areas such as natural gas and renewable energy integration – the totality which is aimed at addressing Nigeria’s industry challenges to guarantee sustainable growth.”

This year’s event will push the conversation further and deeper as Nigeria continues to seek solution to what is not peculiar to it alone but spans across the whole wide world – the dire need for socioeconomic and infrastructure development and poverty alleviation – all in the midst of struggle for energy security and the quest for global emissions reduction.

The theme for the 2025 Conference therefore is apt – “Nigeria’s Energy Future: Exploring Opportunities, Addressing Risks for Sustainable Growth.” It is scheduled for October 9, 2025 at the Eko Hotels and Suites Lagos Nigeria. Its major spotlight is on Nigeria’s energy investment climate and the country’s regulatory policies. It will also provide additional insights and further clarification on energy transition and its socioeconomic implications in Nigeria and for Nigerians.

The conference will further review key industry policies like the PIA, and the role of the country’s regulatory bodies like NUPRC, NMDPRA, and NERC in fostering investor confidence.

There’s already an array of industry eggheads who will help, through their presentations, in simplifying and reconciling key industry development issues in a bid to move the industry and economy faraway from rhetoric and postulation.

Formed with the inauguration of NAEC (Association of Energy Correspondents of Nigeria) in 1987, the conference aims to promote the Nigerian energy industry through collective engagement of stakeholders – including governments, industry operators and regulators – on critical issues that engender growth in its overall sense.

The genesis of the conference, which has also grown into a global event, lies in the Association’s quest for shared insights as well as the deployment of all the necessary tools for the strategic development of the country’s energy industry for maximum growth. Over the years, the conference has brought key players together aimed at fostering collaboration towards finding lasting solutions to a mirage of industry challenges, in the avalanche of opportunities, within Nigeria’s diverse energy landscape.
