The Niger Delta Development Commission [NDDC] in collaboration with the Federal Government of Nigeria and the International Fund for Agricultural Development [IFAD] is today launching the Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises Niger Delta (LIFE-ND) initiative for Akwa Ibom, Imo, and Rivers States, for the next six years.
The LIFE-ND project is an initiative of the FGN aimed at improving the livelihood and living conditions of at least 38,250 rural women and youths in the Nine states of the Niger Delta Region. In the last five years however, implementation has been ongoing across the other six IFAD-funded states of Abia, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers, Delta, Edo, and Ondo.
In fulfillment of her financial obligations of USD 30 million towards this robust partnership, the NDDC recently made a partial payment towards meeting this obligation; which has enabled these three NDDC-funded states to come on board.
The LIFE-ND project launch, therefore, is to flag off this noble partnership aimed at producing at least 12,750 agri-entrepreneur primary beneficiaries across 300 communities in the three NDDC-funded states of Akwa Ibom, Imo, and Rivers.
