By Lilian Fidelis Nka

Energy Window International (Media) – NERC Chairman, Musiliu Oseni, chaired the Q1 2026 Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) Stakeholders’ Meeting held recently in Lagos, where he also emphasized the need for a strategic shift toward proactive public engagement alongside other key sector issues.

The quarterly NESI meeting is a platform for stakeholders to review sector performance, evaluate ongoing reforms, and set new targets for improving electricity service delivery nationwide.

The key highlights of the meeting include, the assessment of progress on critical power infrastructure, including the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Energy Management System (EMS) projects.

Others were the SCADA/EMS initiatives which once completed, are expected to reduce system disturbances and strengthen grid stability, a renewed call for clear, consistent communication of sector projects and reforms to the public, emphasis on public awareness to help Nigerians understand the long-term benefits of ongoing reforms. This is while encouraging operators to demonstrate confidence, using communication as a tool to ensuring sector progress.

The meeting had in attendance the leadership of NERC, State Electricity Regulators (SERs), and operators across the electricity value chain.
