We have renewed collaboration with NMDPRA to bolster Nigeria’s energy security – NNPC

By Ejekwu Chidiebere

Group Chief Executive Officer NNPC Ltd, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari said it paid a courtesy visit on the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) at the Authority’s Headquarters in Abuja, to renew their commitment to sustain collaboration towards strengthening Nigeria’s energy security, promoting collective national prosperity, and delivering on the federal government’s mandate for enhanced oil production, gas utilization, expanded refining capacity, and investment attraction.

In his remarks, Ojulari stated that NNPC Ltd.’s strategic focus was anchored on disciplined execution and operational excellence, stressing that profitability has always remained the guiding mantra of the company’s commercial operations. He explained that the 2026 NNPC Gas Master Plan was a deliberate intervention designed to stimulate increased gas off-take and deepen value creation across the downstream value-chain.

NMDPRA boss Engr. Saidu Aliyu Mohammed in a response said the regulatory body will not relent in its commitment to strengthening its partnership with NNPC Ltd aimed at driving initiatives that would guarantee Nigeria’s energy security. While commending the recent launch of the NNPC Gas Master Plan, he noted that gas was the most critical as Nigeria’s cleaner transition fuel, and the most essential to meeting the country’s growing energy demand, and achieving the balanced energy mix of the future.
