At a press conference held this week in Panama City, key figures from Panama’s energy, tourism, education, and business sectors gathered to highlight the national and global significance of World Energy Week 2025. Among the speakers were Juan Manuel Urriola, Panama’s Secretary of Energy; Héctor M. Cotes, President of the World Energy Council in Panama; Gloria De León, Administrator of the Panama Tourism Authority; José Antonio Brenes, Member of the World Energy Council Board of Directors representing the business sector; and Jessica Guevara, Board Member for the education sector from the Technological University of Panama.

Héctor M. Cotes, President of the World Energy Council in Panama, highlighted the event’s potential to position Panama as a centre of exchange – not only for energy but for transformative ideas. He stressed that the event will offer a platform for meaningful conversations that move the needle toward a more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable energy future.

Panama’s Secretary of Energy, Juan Manuel Urriola, emphasized that World Energy Week will serve as a bridge between local transition priorities and the global energy agenda. He welcomed the opportunity to bring together international stakeholders to collaborate on practical, forward-looking solutions for shared energy challenges.

Billed to take place from 6–9 October 2025 in Panama City, and co-hosted by the World Energy Council and the Government of Panama, the World Energy Week 2025 will see in attendance over 500 leaders from across the energy ecosystem, and connect regional energy realities with the global agenda. The event will explore key topics shaping the future of energy, even as Panama is expected to offer a vibrant and strategic setting for this timely and all-inclusive conversation.
